Festive red lips.
My favourite look at Christmas time will always be red lips! I think a few of us shy away from this but there are so many shades out there, whether you’re blonde or brunette there’s sure to be one that suits you. I’d say if you’ve never worn red lipstick before and are afraid to then maybe start off with a red sheer gloss. The most important thing is feeling comfortable in your own skin so wear this for a while and then move on to a lipstick.
Red lipsticks come in various shades and tones; orange tones, pink tones and my personal favourite is a blue tone red, I find this makes your teeth look whiter!
A couple of my favourite red lipsticks are Ruby Woo MAC and Rouge Allure Velvet Chanel both of these are matte lipsticks. I always find matte lipsticks to be longer wearing and more vibrant! I also think it’s really important to get good definition and make the most of your lips and stop lip bleeding with a matching lip liner.
If you’re going to go for a red lip don’t go too dark on the eyes. I’ve kept them light in the pictures above and focused more on a strong winged eyeliner with some nice lashes! Also, not to forget defined brows, I use an HD brow palette for this with a MAC angle brush. I think eyebrows are the most important feature as they completely frame your face and will make a huge difference to your makeup look. Last but not least I always go for an oil-free foundation as they tend to be longer wearing! I recommend KAT VON D ‘Lock it’ foundation.
Nude lips with bold glittery eyes
For those of you that feel more comfortable with nude lips and more focus on the eyes, I’ve also picked out one of my favourite Christmas looks for this.

At this time of year, it’s always nice to add some glitter! I have just purchased the most amazing mini glitter set from Stila Cosmetics called ‘Written in the Stars’ it’s a glitter and glow liquid eyeshadow set with three different shades. They are so easy to apply you could either wear them on their own with a winged eyeliner and lashes. I like to create a smokey eye and they apply the glitters to the eyelid.

For the skin again I’d use KAT VON D ‘Lock it’ foundation for the full coverage and long-lasting effect. I’d also add to the skin ICONIC LONDON illuminating drops just a few drops of this either mixed with your foundation or dabbed on your cheekbone and this gives the most amazing glow! If you have a Christmas party coming up and you’re wearing a low cut dress it’s also nice to add a bit of glow to your shoulders and chest.
With a smokey eye, I’d always go with a nude lip to finish the look off. My favourite nude lipstick is ‘Stark Naked’ by URBAN DECAY again this is a matte lipstick which is a longer lasting gorgeous colour for all kinds of special occasions a lot of my brides also love this shade!
